Don’t get me wrong—I am psyched that the Buckeyes beat Arkansas and are no longer “O-fer” against the SEC in bowl games.
It’s a little harder now for someone to say that the Bucks can’t compete against the SEC. I’ve become a little frustrated, though, that I care so much about what the OSU haters think. Thankfully, I have a new strategy for overcoming my concern for what others have to say about my beloved Buckeyes. I’m going to start praying for those who diss the Bucks.
No, I don’t mean pray for their extinction, and yes, I am serious. The idea comes from a book called When People Are Big and God Is Small by Ed Welch. Welch demonstrates in the book that one of the best ways to overcome the need to please other people is to concentrate on loving them. It’s amazing how little we care about people’s negative words when our focus is on promoting their good. Try it out and see if you don’t agree.
Go Bucks, and God bless Mark May!
